Launch of the Queer Activist Academy – A New Chapter for Queer Activism in Moldova

October 9, 2025, Chișinău — The Queer Café community officially launched the Queer Activist Academy, a unique leadership and civic engagement program dedicated to LGBTQI+ youth and allies from across the Republic of Moldova.

The launch event brought together brave young people, mentors, and activists from various fields in an open space for dialogue, inspiration, and solidarity. The atmosphere was filled with energy and enthusiasm — marking the beginning of a collective journey toward social change and queer visibility.

What Happened at the Launch?

Participants got to know the Queer Café team, the program mentors, and the structure of the five intensive workshops that will take place through January 2026.
The event included networking moments, interactive presentations, and a discussion session on what queer activism means in the current context of the Republic of Moldova.

The goal of this first meeting was not only to provide information but also to build a community of trust and mutual support, inspiring participants to take on active roles in society.

Voices from the Community

“The Academy is about the courage to turn ideas into action and about building bridges between people who believe in freedom, dignity, and solidarity,”
— said the Queer Café team during the event’s opening.

What’s Next

After the launch, participants will begin the first thematic workshop — Human Rights at the Local and International Level, taking place from October 10–12.
The following months will focus on developing debating skills, community mobilization, digital activism, and the creation of micro-projects.
